It was an exceptionally warm summer afternoon on Saturday 31st March….With summers just about setting in and the temperature rising…. I remembered the song “the heat is on” by Glen frey …one of my all time favorite….the song was just so appropriate not just to describe the weather but also to describe the enthusiasm with which the children from different backgrounds had gathered together to draft a manifesto for a child friendly Delhi…..

Bachpan Bachao Andolan…for Child Rights

As Delhi gears up for the upcoming MCD (Municipal Corporation of Delhi) elections the idea was floated by Bachpan Bachao Andolan, this children’s workshop marked the pre-launch of the campaign titled “Child Friendly Delhi Campaign” that starts in the first week of April. We just completed elections in Uttar Pradesh…and amidst some very interesting twists and drama stood a young guy who had a different story to tell….Here comes a young 35 year old, politician in the making out to change the national political scenario in India……third time candidate from Gorakhpur constituency is an educated young man from Gorakhpur University.

….Meet Rajan Yadav, a Masters in business from the renowned Gorakhpur University…. During the election campaign he was ridiculed by many initially for his crazy stunts such as carrying out a funeral procession of Indian politics typical Indian style…..but over a period of time they have come along and now support him wholeheartedly and some even help him with little funding for his election activities….

The Rashtriya Viklang party had announced about 50 eunuch names for the ongoining UP elections. We see a connection here with the recent anti corruption campaign. It seems the masses are in no mood to put up with graft anymore and want real change to take place.
